To an icon of our time; thank you

Dignity, humility, strength and the drive for freedom for all, attributes that will always be associated with Nelson Mandela.

Names that will also be associated with Mandela are those like "icon", "leader", "role model" and "hero". When he walked free from prison that day, it proved that the hope and love of the human heart will always triumph in times of need and despair. It may take years or decades, but eventually, its time will come.

Nelson Mandela once said

"Do not judge me by my successes. Judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."

In his own words, Mandela was no saint, no human is, but he always got up and he kept trying. Trying to make himself a better person, trying for a better South Africa for its people and trying for a better world in which we all could live in peace and freedom. He did this with dignity, grace, humility and with a quite but true strength. This is a lesson in which we all could learn to live by and that is why, even though the man is now gone, his spirit will live on and it is our duty to make sure it does.

The world is in mourning at the lose of one of its greatest sons and one of its greatest lights. All I can say is, thank you and good bye.

RIP Nelson Mandela
