I remember as a child looking up at the stars in sheer wonder and curiosity (and delight!). Then as I looked up at the stars last night (along with a few shooting stars) I was reminded that none of that has changed. All these years later I still have that same wonder and curiosity I had when I was a child and it has never faltered.
It is a regular reminder of how vast the universe is and how small we are in comparison. I don't find that daunting or scary. To me it just means there is so much out there that is unknown waiting to be explored.
So far man has only made it as far as the moon, metaphorically we're made it to our front door step. Even our furthest satellites have only made it as far as the edge of our solar system, so to the edge of our garden fence.
The question is, will humanity have the drive and ambition to take is even further?
